How much does it cost to participate in Youth Dance Festival at the University of Delaware?

Accepted Answer

$65/registered participant for the full day of classes. This fee includes a ticket to the concert and YDF t-shirt.

$45/performance group. There are limited spots available. One performance submission per studio/school.

How many master classes will I get to take?

Each dancer will be able to participate in 4-5 dance classes throughout the day.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that you can dance in! Bring layers to stay warm. Please arrive ready to dance as dressing room space will be limited.

What shoes do I need?

Accepted Answer

Please bring an assortment of dance shoes.  You will be placed in a wide variety of classes and may need ballet shoes, jazz shoes, character shoes and sneakers and may also be required to dance barefoot. We will accommodate students if they do own a specific shoe.

How many pieces can I submit to the performance festival?

One piece is allowed to be submitted per studio and/or school. Every style/genre of dance is encouraged.

Question 7

Is there a limit to how long each piece can be?

Please submit a choreographic work that is no longer than 5 minutes.

Will I get to rehearse onstage?

Each performance group will have a scheduled 15 minute tech time earlier in the day.

What if I can't attend the full day?

All participants are welcome to register for the full day and participate for as long as they are able.

Do I need to have previous dance experience to attend?

Classes will be structured for dancers from a variety of levels and experiences.
